Luxe Decor: Chinoiserie Chic

Recently my sister-in-law accepted a new teaching position and will be moving to Japan in just two short months! As she delves into all things Japanese, it had me thinking about the overall inspiration of Asian culture.  And in design, influences from Chinese culture continue to be a chic element of style.  Chinoiserie references these elements as they are blended togther with Western design.

Anything pagoda shaped...mirrors, headboards and cabinets...continue to be major statement pieces.  There are great, affordable chinoiserie fabrics to choose from for upholstery and throw pillows.  And blue and white pottery is a classic element that transcends styles from the most traditional of homes to the coastal, beach cottage.

My neighbor has this reedition pagoda mirror and it looks so much like the (more expensive) vintage versions!

We've said it before, you can never have enough pillows! Such a great way to add a small touch of chinoiserie.  I have the brown Robert Allen pillows in my guest room.

I would love to use this etagere in a bathroom for storage.

Love this tray for holding trinkets, or for use on a bar cart.

I am constantly looking to add to my collection of Chinese blue and white pottery.

Garden stools are another great outdoor accessory, or use a pair to fill the space under a console table.
